Over my 10+ years in the classroom, like thousands of teachers around the world, I've used a variety of website applications with my groups. These have ranged from countdown timers and mind-mapping tools to online games that could be displayed on the IWB, engaging the children, filling gaps with something productive, or helping me maintain the daily flow.
It recently occurred to me that putting these commonly used things in one place could help me, and many others, in our quest to keep our school days simple. After all, with a growing onus on admin, every little time-saver, particularly those that help to improve outcomes, is warmly received.
I've spent some time over the summer pooling ideas and putting together the new 'Apps' menu at Morningchallenge.co.uk. It consists of all the things that I've previously had to trawl the net for, in one place.
Alongside some incredibly simple but useful offerings such as a stopwatch, a coin toss and a digital dice roller, you'll also find an easy-to-use 'Boggle'-style word game, a 'Countdown'-style maths game and an incredibly convenient mind-map generator, which offers a print option – making collecting class ideas and creating print-outs for books a breeze.
All of our Apps are free to use and take seconds to access, making life just that little bit easier. Just visit Morningchallenge.co.uk and use the link in the header.
